Koglo

Koglo is the highest point in Šmarješke Toplice municipality at an altitude 417m. Once there was a little castle called Kozjak located on Koglo. It was the first riflemen fort against Ogrom.

Church of St. Lenart is the succursal of the Šmarjeta parish church. In written records it was first mentioned as late as in the 17th century. The church was first built in Gothic style and later also in Baroque.

Today Koglo is a vineyard hill that offers excellent views over the surrounding towns and numerous churches of the hill of Dolenjska region. You may also see the river Krka, Gorjanci hills, Kočevje forest, Novo mesto hollow and Šentjernej field. If there's nice weather you may also see the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in the north and even Croatian Slijeme in the south.
